After visiting San Giovanni Rotondo, we headed back to Rome for our four day stay in the city but we also made a side trip to Lanciano to visit the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle.
It is said that the Eucharistic miracle happened when during a holy communion, the bread used in communion suddenly turned into a person's flesh while the wine that symbolized Christ's blood turned into actual blood.
Lanciano is a very pretty place, we didn't get to go to the stores because by the time we finished mass and had lunch it was already closed for the afternoon siesta (did I get that right?) anyway, I didn't really complain, it just made the town a whole lot more picturesque, in my opinion. :)
