Upon our arrival at San Giovanni Rotondo, we immediately went to the Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church for our Pilgrim's mass which was held in Padre Pio's old burial site, inside the church.
The church was pretty big, it had a museum which showcased Padre Pio's old room, living room and his many letters from his devotees.
Padre Pio's old crypt.
Padre Pio's room.
This is just one shelf of letters from his devotees all over the world! This is actually one whole room filled with that much letters!
His living room, the photos scattered on the floor are also from his devotees.
Outside the church is a newly built church which is also where Padre Pio's body is now put to rest.
Clearly the inside of that new church is truly opulent and extravagant, I heard that some parts of it was actually built or accentuated with REAL gold!
This is the statue of Padre Pio, there's a staircase behind him that is really high, I just don't know where it leads to. :D
Stay tuned for my next post! :)
